It will show you how to fix this annoying error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Unable to create directory wp-content\/uploads<\/li><li>Unable to create directory \/wp-content\/uploads\/ Is its parent directory writable by the server?<\/li><li>Unable to create directory wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a few different possibilities for this error to show up. I will try to cover all the possibilities so hopefully one of them will help you fix the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 1: Update\/Change the Uploads Directory Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the easiest option to try and solve this error so you should try this one first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Log into your WordPress admin dashboard<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to&nbsp;<strong>Media<\/strong>&nbsp;Settings menu (Settings -&gt; Media)<\/li><li>Enter&nbsp;<strong>wp-content\/uploads<\/strong>&nbsp;in the \u201cStore uploads in this folder\u201d text box<\/li><li>Save the changes by hitting the \u201cSave Changes\u201d button and you are done<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The important thing here is to make sure you only enter the following in the \u201cStore uploads in this folder\u201d field:<br><br><code>wp-content\/uploads<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fix 2: Manually Change the Folder Permission<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Change folder permissions on the&nbsp;<strong>wp-content<\/strong>&nbsp;directory to&nbsp;<strong>775<\/strong>&nbsp;and try the upload again<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>If it fails, change the permissions to&nbsp;<strong>777<\/strong>&nbsp;and try again<\/li><li>if it still fails then do step 1 and 2 for the \u201c<strong>wp-content\/uploads<\/strong>\u201d directory too<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you can successfully create the folder and upload the media, be sure to return the permissions on&nbsp;<strong>wp-content<\/strong>directory to 755 (your folders should have a permission of 755 for security reasons).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are seeing any of the following errors when you try to upload\/import media into WordPress\u2019s media library then this tutorial is for you.
